LIVE: What Makes the Internet of Things Different From Today’s Internet?

On today’s SiliconANGLE’s Live NewsDesk Show, (see embed feed below or visit youtube.com/siliconangle to watch on-demand), we learn about the Industrial Internet a.k.a the ‘Internet of Things’ and the business value General Electric places on the trend,  according to Bill Ruh, VP and Corporate Officer at General Electric.

Ruh recently gave the keynote at the Cloud Connect conference in Santa Clara titled: “Clouds, Big Data and Brilliant Machines”. In the keynote he highlighted the equal distribution of challenges and opportunities we face today, with the looming transition to a new computing landscape. The technology world is experiencing and influencing massive market shifts in some key industries, such as retail and financial services. Unlocking Big Data, machine-to-machine communications, and machine learning were other focal points of his keynote.

Joining us now to tell us more about GE’s take on the Industrial Internet, and more in-depth analysis of the ‘Internet of Things’ is Wikibon CTO David Floyer. (See the live broadcast, embed below ~ if you missed today’s topic, check our YouTube channel for archived clips.)

Some of the things we’ll be discussing with Floyer include, the difference between the ‘Internet of Things’ and today’s Internet, the most exciting things about the ‘Internet of Things’, and big players in this emerging market.
