AccessData Says HP is Serious About Security
Chad Gailey and Alan B. Taylor of AccessData join John Furrier in theCube to discuss Cyber Security. Furrier introduces his guests by explaining that security is one of the hottest areas in technology. Gailey, is VP of Worldwide Channel Sales and Taylor is Global Director, MSP/DEM. Gailey and Taylor also share that Access Data has been named HP’s partner of the year and explain what that means for the company.
Furrier asks what does it mean for AccessData to named HP’s “Partner of the Year” for security for 2013. Gailey and Taylor say that the distinction was earned for its innovation and large marquee account (most of which are confidential). In other words, AccessData was rewarded for its performance as well as product leadership.
Furrier also enquires about the AccessData HP relationship asking, “Is HP easy to work with?” Gailey notes that HP has not always been the best and easiest to work with. However, their consolidation of business units has eased that with direct access to executives, product development and code innovation. Taylor adds, “in our space in security, you can see the massive amount of investment we make and [combining HP’s] leading products like ArcSite is a whole recipe for great success.”
Gailey and Taylor also discuss the importance of pre-emptive protection when it comes to cyber security. Gailey notes that security breaches are, in fact, inevitable. Taylor notes that approximately 14% of incidents are not even contained for weeks and 22% not contained for months. The company’s goal is to quickly recognize and remedy breaches. Furrier notes, “this is not just fear mongering…this is real stuff.”
