Giving Never Felt So Tweetable: tinyGive’s Big Fundraising Solution

Everyday charitable organizations are missing out on big funding opportunities online. In our digitally connected world, micro-donations and social media have forever changed fundraising strategies. At the same time, smartphones (now natural extensions of ourselves), are used to pay bills and share everything we experience. In this climate, tinyGive’s co-founders thought it was time to create a platform that made giving to charity as simple as sending a tweet from a smartphone. tinyGive harnesses the convenience of Twitter and innate human altruism to make giving and receiving donations quicker and more efficient. In this regard, tinyGive addresses an important void in the market for online fundraising platforms that can make it difficult for donors to contribute on the go and costly for the charities to manage.

So, with crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo, why do we need another space to give online? tinyGive co-founder, Clarence Wardell, suggests the dominant online giving platform, in which donors are asked to click a link, and then taken to an external site to complete a donation form, can be cumbersome for mobile users. Wardell explains:

“[The] traditional ‘click this link’ model is still optimal for a good number of scenarios, [but] it’s too stagnant to take advantage of the new media platforms where many donation requests now occur. In aggregate, the number of donations lost because individuals are unwilling to go through with the ‘click this link, fill out this form, and then post to your feed to tell others’ process probably numbers somewhere in the millions each year.”

Drawing upon the team’s collective academic and professional experience in the science of human generosity and technological innovation, tinyGive has simplified the online contribution process for smartphone users. Once registered on www.tinygive.com, contributing to the charity of your choice is as simple as see, tweet, give.
