Developers need a simpler and easier way to build and test across the hundreds of devices and multiple platforms out there. Xamarin, a maker of cross-platform mobile application development tools and Symplified, an identity-as-a-service solution provider have entered into an alliance to develop Mobile Developer SDK for mobile developers to secure their enterprise applications running on iOS, Android and Windows Phone, as well as Mac desktops.
Under the new agreement, the Identity and Access Management (IAM) library for Xamarin Component Store will provide the Symplified Mobile Developer SDK. This SDK enables developers to easily integrate single sign on authentication technology into their native applications. The SDK will eliminate development time while providing users with proven identity and access management capabilities to accelerate secure enterprise mobility.
“We’re extremely pleased to team with Xamarin, the premier company at the forefront of cross-platform mobile application development, for the launch of our first mobile SDK,” said Shayne Higdon, president and CEO of Symplified. “Mobile application developers should have a standard way of authenticating users and shouldn’t have to spend countless hours developing code which may still open up security vulnerabilities once integrated into their applications. The Symplified Mobile Developer SDK builds on our foundation as an identity-as-a-service company focused on security – providing the right tools for organizations to maintain visibility and control across the numerous cloud, mobile and on-premises applications they use today.”
Easy to build native mobile apps
Xamarin has roughly 350,000 developers who can now use the SDK to build, test and deploy authentication and SSO capabilities for their native mobile application. The Symplified Mobile Developer SDK is a bridge from SAML 2.0 to OAuth 2.0 REST APIs in native mobile apps. It supports the IETF SAML 2.0 Profile for OAuth 2.0 Client Authorization Grants, making it possible for developer to leverage existing SAML 2.0 infrastructure to securely access OAuth2-protected REST APIs.
The Symplified Mobile Developer SDK is available as an open-source component in the Xamarin Component Store. Developers can use Xamarin Studio or Visual Studio to integrate the component into their native mobile applications. Along with the SDK, developer will have full access to a sandbox testing environment, full API documentation and online support forums.
For developers, Xamarin provides an automated UI testing platform, Xamarin Test Cloud, allowing mobile developers to easily test their apps on hundreds of mobile devices. Xamarin Test Cloud allows developers to quickly get started with app testing, testing across multiple platforms on hundreds of real devices, and work seamlessly with continuous integration process.
The source code to create native mobile application using the Symplified Mobile Developer SDK is available on Github.
