Self-Trackers to Keep Fatigue at Bay + More

This week’s Quantified Self roundup features different forms of trackers.  We start with a watch that tells you how your sleep is affecting other aspects of your life, to a device suitable for team sports, and end with a smartwatch that delivers the most insightful picture of yourself.

Fatigue Science delivers a few different products that help us understand how fatigue is affecting our lives, with its Fatigue Management Technology.  One of its offerings is the Readiband, a smartwatch that tracks micro 3D movements of your wrist 16 times per second.  It then uses a sophisticated algorithm to determine the quality and quantity of your sleep.

The technology is based on a model developed by the US Military to convert fatigue levels into performance data.  The point of this smartwatch is to reiterate the importance of getting enough sleep in order to function well throughout the day.  Getting enough sleep is vital to person’s well-being as it keeps people focused and maintains normal levels of reaction time.

The Readiband is lightweight, waterproof, and practically indestructible, so you can wear it no matter what field of work you are in.

Launched at this year’s TechCrunch Disrupt SF event, the QuASP is a wearable device that delivers all the offerings of other wearable device in one simple device.  It is not a watch, but a gadget you can put in your pocket or on a Beestar shirt that has a pocket in the back.

QuASP uses sensors and satellites to deliver the most precise motion and location data.  It comes in two versions: the QuASP Light, which delivers 3D Acceleration/Deceleration patterns (very important in racing), Quantification of reactivity in the change of direction (describing “dodging” skills), sport team tactic analysis, and athletic resume service (the player’s profile will show the progress made over time); and the QuASP Pro, which delivers real-time quantification of shocks during tackles or impacts, real-time tracking of the whole team, simultaneous access from multiple client applications running on tablets, smartphones and PCs, and synchronization with video streaming for video analysis (camera not included).

It will help individuals and team coaches to improve performance and determine who is lagging, who needs improvement, or who is reaching their optimal potential.

QuASP started as Indiegogo campaign, with a goal of $80,000 in funding.

Basis is a sleek and stylish smartwatch that learns more about you using sensors and motion trackers.  It continuously captures heart rate patterns, motion, perspiration and skin temperature throughout the day and night.  It is made of lightweight materials, so wearing it while sleeping won’t be a problem.  It also has customizable straps to match you’re daily wardrobe changes.

Basis finds way to get you moving on even your most hectic days, incentivizing you with achievement markers.  So it’s like playing a video game — the more you play it, the more achievements you’ll unlock.  Everything you need to know is available right on your wrist, but if you want personalized insights into your healthy habits, you can access the dashboard for that or you can sync your Basis smartwatch with your iOS or Android smartphone.
