Looking for More Nirvanix Alternatives: Shopping List for Last-Minute Migration

The shutdown announcement from Nirvanix has led to a lot of scrambling for customers and the final-closure-date is looming with the upcoming October 15th as the deadline. But fortunately, other cloud providers are stepping into the breach. We have covered a few of the top popular options to migrate to other cloud storage services provider.

As the final turn-off date is finally on the horizon, SiliconANGLE figured that it’s a good time to update the list of likely candidates to move data to. Consider this a last-minute-shopping list (including the previous we’ve run.)

While some customers are looking for alternatives to the major cloud providers such as Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, HP, Box, Dropbox, Google and Rackspace among others, there are a long list of others jump in to ensure that Nirvanix customers experience a seamless transition in this emergency situation.

Aorta Cloud

U.K.-based Aorta Cloud is trying to rescue Nirvanix customers with a special package. The company with the help of its sister company Aorta Capital has set up a Nirvanix Rescue Package page on its website to provide full continuity of service for Nirvanix customers. Arota is capturing any data volume by physically getting it out of the data center and its CEO Steve Ampleford claims his group has a “seven-figure commitment” to save the soon to be dead cloud storage provider. The plan is to raise enough money to keep the company going for at least two months, and then try to secure more funding to save it long-term or at least give customers more time to get their data off the Nirvanix cloud.

IQ Storage

IQ Storage, the online backup services for files & databases, is helping Nirvanix customers to migrate their data to IQ Storage for a limited time. The company is helping in switchover and integration of data including help with re-programming Nirvanix-powered systems. In addition, the secure open standards like SFTP cloud storage provider is offering 50% off on FTPS based cloud solution to former Nirvanix customers.

Exigent Technologies

Exigent Technologies, a full-service information technology consulting firm, is advising Nirvanix customers to find replacement services and move their data. The company’s sales engineers are providing value added services to learn more about users’ needs and provide solution with a seamless migration path.

Fastback DR

Toronto-based Storagepipe Solutions specializes in backing up and archiving files through a Web-based service. Its Fastback DR offers local and remote backup options in addition to fastest speed of recovery. The company’s Disaster Recovery planning has become that much easier with continuous data protection, data deduplication, file and volume restore and application aware recovery.

SpiderOak

SpiderOak operates in ‘zero-knowledge’ privacy environment that ensures no user data is compromised with companies, governments and other agencies. SpiderOak uses a combination of 2048-bit RSA and 256-bit AES encryption to ensure data is locked up tight and only you have the key to access it. The zero-knowledge capabilities also allows drag-and-drop functionality of services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and SkyDrive.

Zoho Docs

Making user’s files available at all locations is an important feature of a cloud backup management system. Zoho Docs for Desktop has recently added two-way file synchronization capability to synchronize files on their local Windows, Mac and Linux desktop and laptop computers with the cloud as well as sync their cloud files with their local computers. Nirvanix users can get a powerful two-way file synchronization capability combined with expanded storage options and a tightly integrated online office suite, making this a unique offering for businesses.

SugarSync

With SugarSync, Nirvanix users have the options to decide which folders they want to sync and where they want to sync them. The company is one of the first to offer cloud backup that connected with a mobile device. It neatly and automatically creates one singular spot that allows you to access your files. In addition, it offers a free 5GB Service and jumps up to a 60GB plan for just $7.49/month.

JustCloud

JustCloud provides unlimited cloud storage with other features like automated backup, complete data security, access of files from tablets, PC’s, smartphones, laptops, desktops at any time, from any location.

Global Net Access

One of the leading Infrastructure as a Service provider, Global Net Access (GNAX), has welcome Nirvanix customers to move their data to GNAX’s managed cloud storage solutions. The strategic partner and reseller of EMC operates unique EMC based replication services, which offer customers the ability to store one copy of data onsite and replicate a second copy to one or more of GNAXs data centers. The company provides managed storage solutions as a capital expenditure, a monthly operational cost, or a combination of both.
