Jaspersoft extends embedded BI with visualizations, performance enhancements

With the latest release of its namesake business intelligence solution, Jaspersoft has introduced new data visualization capabilities that give users faster access to data insights. The update marks a notable milestone in the evolution of embedded BI, which is gaining significant traction among the 75 percent of business users who don’t use traditional alternatives from the likes of SAP and Oracle.

Besides enhanced data visualization, Jaspersoft 5.5 also features a reworked homepage that provides a more convenient way of browsing tutorials and samples. Other additions include pre-built report templates, an improved cluster-aware caching function, and a new Eclipse-based version of the iReport Designer tool. Most notably, Jaspersoft 5.5 is now available with the AWS Elastic MapReduce Big Data service. The integration builds on an existing partnership between AWS and Jaspersoft that, according to the BI vendor, helped it add 500 new customers since March.

“This release marks major advancements to the industry’s most powerful embedded analytics offering,” stated Karl Van den Bergh, vice president of product and alliances for Jaspersoft. “It’s tailored to the realities of today’s application landscape, where developers need to be able to easily embed analytics and rich visualizations in order to differentiate their offering and better satisfy their customers’ needs. What’s more, allowing developers the option to purchase such a platform on an hourly basis via our AWS partnership enables them to quickly realize value in an extremely cost-effective manner.”

Earlier this week, Jaspersoft rival Pentaho released a report detailing what it calls the top four priorities for Big Data in 2014. Data integration ranks first, with 57 percent of organizations seeking to merge sales information with information analytics, followed by stream processing, predictive analytics and free form search.
