Accenture has picked up evopro group’s manufacturing solutions business to fortify its presence in the emerging Industrial Internet, where intelligent machines meet Big Data to drive operational efficiencies. No financial details were disclosed.
Founded in 2001, evopro group provides embedded software and services for companies across the automotive, building, logistics and transportation industries, among other verticals. The privately-held Hungarian firm has more than 1,000 employees with operations throughout Europe, including Germany, Romania and Turkey.
Accenture says that the deal aims to enhance its existing range of capabilities for “organizing, developing and managing the processes needed for the entire lifecycle of new products and services” in the manufacturing sector. The buy follows the recent acquisitions of PRION Group and PCO Innovation, two system integrators that specialize in product lifecycle management.
“This acquisition will strengthen our capabilities in the industrial software solutions market, where we see increased interest from our clients for software development and related IT services,” commented Eric Schaeffer, a senior managing director at Accenture. “evopro group has a highly skilled workforce with deep expertise in software development, testing, and implementation, as well as automation solutions.”
Accenture previously partnered with GE, the driving force behind the Industrial Internet, to help customers tap their machine data. The partnership builds on Taleris, a joint venture that the firms launched back in 2012 to provide airlines with technology that predicts likely failures of aircraft parts and systems and recommends preventive action.
GE is taking a multi-pronged approach to the Industrial Internet. Besides teaming up with Accenture, the company also allied with AT&T, Cisco, and Intel to build an ecosystem around its Predix platform for managing connected devices. The framework already powers 24 different services spanning analytics, monitoring and collaboration.
