Zetta.net introduces cloud backup migration for Symantec Backup Exec
Zetta, enterprise-grade cloud backup and disaster recovery solution provider for small and mid-size enterprises, and MSPs, is introducing up to 6 months of free cloud backup services for Symantec Backup Exec. cloud customers impacted by the pending shutdown. With this offering, Zetta is providing up to 6 months free enterprise-grade cloud backup, along with 20% discount on an annual cloud backup contract.
“Symantec Backup Exec and Backup Exec.Cloud customers have endured one jarring surprise after another,” said Zetta.net VP of Marketing Gary Sevounts. “First Backup Exec 2012 was released to universally negative reviews, then patches were released that didn’t provide support for mainstream platforms like Windows Server 2012, and now the cloud backup component is being shut down. Stability is a fundamental pillar of enterprise backup, and it is critical for backup vendors to give business customers confidence their critical backup data will be available for recovery,” said Sevounts.
A few days back, Symantec announced the shutdown of its Backup Exec. cloud service. The company alerted users that it will stop selling the service in January. Existing customers will be able to utilize the product until the end of service availability on January 6, 2015 or the end of their current term. After January 6, 2015, customers and partners will not have access to the service, data or technical support.
Zetta’s patent pending cloud backup technology is focused on performance, and enables customers to protect data sets from 1TB to 100TB, and backup and recovery up to 5TB in 24 hours directly to or from the cloud. Besides, Zetta allows its customers to enjoy overall backup costs that are up to 50% lower than Symantec Backup Exec.
Zetta is extending offer to existing Backup Exec and Backup Exec.Cloud customers, where they can recover their data in 4 ways: from the cloud through a mapped network drive, the ZettaMirror software agent, or a web browser–with recovery from local storage an option for non-disaster recoveries. Customers do not have to buy any appliance hardware. Those who are interested in migrating data from Backup Exec and Backup Exec.Cloud products to Zetta.net’s DataProtect solution should submit a request for contact or custom pricing to the company.
