Telerik Test Studio R2 release adds cross-browser testing capabilities

Unlike conventional test systems, Telerik Test Studio is designed to check performance in modern web-applications and is a single solution to all the needs of software testing.

The ability to run different types of automated tests including testing in smartphones and browsers is crucial for developers to maintain speed and stability within their apps. It means when they update code, they can simply run the test again to check for new bugs.

Telerik is unveiling second major release for 2013 of Test Studio. The R2 Version 2013.2.1210 employs a rich set of features to help developer automate intense web content. Test Studio now comes with built-in cross-browser test recording, subscription-based pricing and additional purchasing options, as well as load testing of web services and mobile traffic.

Collaboration between developers and QAs is effortless. Telerik Test Studio ships with cross-browser compatibility aimed at testers to record and playback tests in different browsers out-of-the-box. It supports every possible browser that interact with web apps in different ways for better test coverage and more accurate test results.

The application development tools and solutions company also introduces most flexible pricing solution for functional, load and performance testing. Test Studio now comes with Test Studio Ultimate, Test Studio Load and Test Studio Functional bundles starting from $119 for a monthly subscription. If you intend to do test automation, then Test Studio is offering flexible, affordable subscription options when purchasing additional licenses, services or switching from one type of product to another.

“Proper testing involves much more than traditional QA. It involves multiple layers of the development organization – developers, line of business, test management, and more. Telerik Test Studio is designed to offer effective solutions for every level of the testing cycle with features, reporting, scheduling and pricing to accommodate a myriad of needs,” said Christopher Eyhorn, EVP of ALM tools, Telerik. “With this release, Telerik is not only freeing capital with a subscription-based pricing model, but we’re also enabling those involved in the application development process to work smarter and more productively.”

Another interesting feature of R2 release is the ability to capture the HTTP traffic off of mobile devices and include it in your load tests. The studio enhances extended support for HTML5 controls including inputs like Number, Range, Email, Search and more.

In addition to the standalone UI, the Test Studio suite includes a set of services to find out how web apps scale when hit by many users, distributed test scheduling and execution, speeding the testing cycle for better test coverage by mixing functional, load and performance tests in a single test list.

In March, Telerik entered the iOS world with the availability of Version 2.0. The free version 2.0 helped automate tests for iPhone, iPad & iPod apps and provided in-depth test automation capabilities, ensuring the quality of iOS apps and websites are on par with user expectations. Telerik’s other solution Icenium service is designed to automate tasks of all development operations in the cloud, making cloud services to all components and tools–SDK, compilers, tools for testing, and debugging.
