This partnership will allow Vivint to identify actionable insight into smart home behavior to further automate its solutions. It will lead to better management of connected home appliances, ultimately reducing energy consumption.

Senator demands the FTC protect fitness tracker data

 

As more wearable health devices connect to the Internet, are consumers aware of what’s happening to their personal data being collected?  The Federal Trade Commission conducted a study which revealed that fitness tracker manufacturers are sending collected data to third-party vendors without the user’s knowledge.  One senator is now calling for the FTC to require these manufacturers to tell their users how their data is being used and give them the option to opt out.
