Nest Labs, Inc. has acquired Revolv, Inc., the company behind one of the industry’s most well-recognized hubs for the smart home. This acquisition puts Nest in the center of the smart home market as Revolv would allow Nest’s learning thermostat and smart smoke detector to be able to work with more connected devices.
Also featured in this roundup is a survey from Savant Systems LLC which reveals that more than half of US consumers believe that smart home automation will be an everyday feature in less than 20 years, and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.’s Smart Society Barometer report, which revealed the cost of slow smart home adoption in the UK.

It’s a tedious task to keep track of medication schedules, but thanks to a project launched on Indiegogo, Inc. called Amiko, adhering to schedules may no longer be so daunting. Amiko is a wearable tracker for your inhaled meds that ensure you take them at the right time. The tracker also ensures the medication is loading properly, and if the position of the inhaler is correct.
