A doctors’ note for health apps

 

A new app called Vida aims to motivate people into getting fit, losing weight, reducing stress or just staying healthy for disease prevention. Vida provides users with coaches of their choosing and is compatible with Apple Inc.’s HealthKit.

Also included in this roundup is PetPace, a new health tracker for your furry pal, the UK government’s effort in offering an NHS app store, and doctor-prescribed health apps.

Smart parking, solar bike path launch in Europe

 

Europe is fast-tracking the creation of smart cities. Most recently, Barcelona, Spain opened a smart parking lot that not only tells drivers where vacant parking spaces are via mobile app, but also provides them with additional information such as loading and unloading areas, taxi availability alerts, and disabled parking bays.

Also included in this roundup is the SolaRoad in the Netherlands, a stretch of bike path that has been embedded with solar panels that can be used to power traffic lights or homes, and a new report from Navigant Research regarding the growth of wireless control systems.

Fujitsu’s new platform is a testbed for IoT products

 

Fujitsu Ltd. announced the availability of its Human-Centric IoT platform to serve as a test bed for new IoT hardware and software developments, as well as the creation of an IoT ecosystem to help get these tested products to consumers.

Also featured in this roundup is the winners of the STM32 Internet-of-Things Design Challenge in EMEA.
