Call+ app lets you call landlines and mobiles for free
Most smartphone apps that offer free phone calls require the person receiving the call to also have the app installed on their smartphone. Which will be fine for family and friends, but problems arise if you want to phone a business contact or a landline. The Call+ app differs in that it allows you to make unlimited free calls to landline and mobile phones in 85 countries.
The app is available for download on Android and iOS and allows you to phone both landlines and mobile. The great news is that the caller ID displayed on the receiver’s phone is your existing number, so you are not provided with a random number that friends and family will not recognise. The app also allows you to make unlimited free calls to anyone in the continental U.S. and landlines in Mexico, China and Brazil (Brasilia, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte).
It isn’t all free however and if you want to call a different country (or a mobile phone in Brazil, China, or Mexico); you will need to fork over some cash. Your options to buy via in-app purchases include one day of unlimited-calling service for 99 cents, two days for $1.99 or a month for $19.99.
However, you are also able to earn credits to make calls to these other countries. Completing various ‘partner offers’ will earn you days of service. For example, speak to a Quicken Loans rep and earn three days credit, sign up for a trial with dating service Zoosk and earn seven days, get seven days when you buy a customized holiday ornament from Personal Creations or sign up for a 30-day trial with early learning academy ABCmouse.com and earn three days of credit.
The Call+ app is a great option for making free calls or super cheap calls to 85 countries around the world. Download the Android or iOS version and starting making calls and earning credits.
