Microsoft offers MSN apps for Android, iOS
Microsoft Corp’s MSN division is now offering a range of apps on both Android and iOS for the first time.
The apps, available for download from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Windows and Windows Phone Stores, and the Amazon App Store include a range of products covering news, weather, sports, money, health & fitness, and food & drink.
Microsoft states that the new apps “let you customize and organize the information you want according to your interests” and that they are “beautiful, immersive and built from the ground up to work fluidly on each unique platform…[featuring] an unprecedented breadth of content and functionality.”
While the apps simply duplicate the functionality already offered by thousands of others, there is some value with them if you’re tied into the Microsoft ecosystem; the various features are shared across all your devices using your Microsoft Account.
Microsoft relaunched MSN in late September when it noted the MSN sites globally attract an audience of 425 million people.
Links to download the apps are at http://www.msn.com/en-us/msnapps, although the weather app is not currently available for iOS devices.
