4 new sensors in WeMo line from Belkin at CES 2015
The Consumer Electronics Showcase (CES) 2015 pre-event has served up exciting glimpses of new technology to be showcased at the main event taking place form January 6 to 9. Among these is the news that Belkin is growing their WeMo range of smart gadgets and will be adding four new sensors to their range in 2015.
WeMo Room Motion Sensor
Belkin claims the wireless motion sensor has a ninety-degree field of view and a thirty-foot range. The sensor will have the same role as their current wired model; however the new wireless version will offer greater flexibility when it comes to placement. Thanks to infrared sensors, it will not trigger false alarms due to pets moving around.
WeMo Keychain Sensor
Your home network will be able to detect the keychain sensor, whether it is attached to your keys, your kid or the family pet. Any of your WeMo recipes can be triggered by pressing the hidden button on each sensor, on condition you are within the range of your home network.
WeMo Door and Window Sensor
These sensors will detect any opening or closing of any item where you choose to place the sensor, including windows, doors and cabinets.
WeMo Alarm Sensor
The final sensor will be able to detect the frequency of smoke and burglar alarms if one of them gets triggered. It is then expected to trigger push notifications or automated responses.
The sensors will need Wink Hub, which is currently sold with WeMo LED Lighting starter kits. All of the new sensors are due to arrive before the end of the year with pricing still to be confirmed.
Belkin also provided a glimpse of their Echo Technology; however, the earliest it is due to arrive is towards the end of 2015. Using the WeMo app, the Echo Technology will allow consumers to monitor their water and power consumption, specific to each device. All of this will be possible using just a single sensor.
This sure to be only a few of many products aimed at the connected home to be showcased at this year’s CES.
