Just as the world of smart home solutions was getting redundant, a fresh round of products is being unveiled at the annual Consumer Electronics Show, kicking off this week. As the smart home market continues to gain interest, automated solutions for the mainstream have taken center stage at CES this year.
Here are just a few home automation solutions making waves at CES 2015.
VTech Communications, Inc. is introducing a new line of wireless monitoring devices for connected homes at the tradeshow. The new line includes a baby monitor system, which includes windows and door sensors and motion sensor; a cordless telephone system that alerts homeowners if any of their Ultra Low Energy (ULE) sensors are triggered or if something meant to be closed is left opened; an IP hub that provides Internet connectivity to ULE sensors; HD remote-access cameras that allow homeowners to view and record high-definition video directly through an app on their smartphones or tablets; and a wide variety of wireless ULE sensors.
The goal is to create a system for everyday consumers, not techy early adopters. according to VTech’s Product Marketing Director Chris Conrad, “smart home technologies should not be limited to tech savvy consumers. Leveraging a proven consumer friendly, long-range wireless technology allows us to significantly reduce the complexity of installation for the mainstream do-it-yourself consumer.”
Wireless smart home solution developer Smanos is showcasing its new Smart Home Hub, as well as its Wi-Fi and cellular portfolio, which features minimalistic design, self-installation and self-monitoring. Its solutions help property owners maintain complete control, comfort and visual confirmation at their fingertips.
“What makes Smanos a must-have brand to distributors and retailers is that we’re truly committed to researching, designing and delivering innovative, comprehensive and easy-to-use smart home solutions that will help them outperform their sales and profit targets,” said Brian Stark, general manager of Americas for Smanos.
Dacor, Inc., makers of luxury kitchen appliances, is showcasing its new Voice Activation feature that allows users to control their kitchen appliances via voice command through the Dacor iQ Remote app from anywhere they are connected. The Voice Activation feature is slated for a spring 2015 availability through the company’s Discovery iQ line of products, which includes the Discovery iQ 48” and 36” Dual-Fuel ranges, and single and double wall ovens.
Aside from the Voice Activation feature, Dacor will also be featuring smart kitchen appliances and other smart features, such as Advanced Diagnostics (which is built into the range and aids in optimal product performance) and the Discovery iQ Recipe Box that allows users to easily store recipes found online directly to the smart range and ovens.
“In 2015, we will be celebrating 50 years of innovative kitchen design,” says Dacor President Steve Joseph. “The kitchen is the heart of family life, and as families evolve, so must kitchen technology. Today’s home chefs are busier than ever, and voice activation is one more feature that will help meet the needs of their demanding schedules.”
