Leaks from Microsoft as Windows 10 demo for phones looks to be on its way

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Windows 10 Press Briefing

Only a week before Microsoft will hold its Windows 10 event on January 21st the company, though taciturn prior to the event, has given indications that we may soon see a demo of the much talked about product, for phones, available at the end of January.

Following the recent release of the Phone Insider app (only available for Microsoft employees at the moment), which will enable users to participate in pre-release phone update programs offered by Microsoft, a source from Microsoft told The Verge that soon we will see plenty of Windows 10 features for phones. Once registered with the Phone Insider app, users will then be at liberty to comment on the Windows 10 technical preview.

What else do we know before January 21st? Leaked photos from CNBeta of Microsoft’s new browser, codename Spartan, suggests that Windows 10 will have a ‘dark theme’, similar to that of Apple OS X Yosemite. It also looks like highlights will be available for the Windows 10 taskbar, different from the customary black. The ability to change the colors is not just matter of cosmetic preference, by changing from light to dark users are able to soften the screen when it proves hard on the eyes.

It’s expected that when the Windows 10 preview for phones does come out there will only be a limited number of features available, and once users’ critiques have been digested, the final version will become available some time later in 2015.
