How to create Shazam playlists in Spotify

spotify-ipad-app-6 (1)In a world where Shazam’s audible tagging app works seamlessly with our favorite on-demand music app Spotify, you won’t have to close one app to manually search for a song in another app. And even though there once was a time when you could click “Listen on Spotify” for just about any song identified by Shazam, that handy feature seemed to disappear almost as quickly as it came.

The two companies have now come together for a truly integrated user experience, where Shazam essentially generates a running playlist of tagged songs on Spotify for ongoing, cataloged access.

How to link your Spotify to Shazam’s new feature

First, if you don’t have the latest Shazam app, you should update it, or if you haven’t downloaded the app, download it now. Shazam is available for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

After downloading, launch Shazam and go to My Shazam and open the Settings by tapping on the cogwheel.

Select “Connect to Spotify.”

A Spotify page will then open so you can log in to Spotify. There you will be presented with a list of what integrating the two services will bring to your listening experience. Select ‘Okay’ to proceed.

To enjoy the Shazam-Spotify integration, you need a Spotify Premium account.

If you already have a Spotify Premium account, a “My Shazam Tracks” playlists will be created in your Spotify music catalog. This is where you will find all the songs you have Shazam-ed, and will Shazam in the future.

This integration makes it easier to create playlists and find songs on Spotify, as you no longer have to manually search for a song after you have Shazam-ed it.
