David Costar, director of People and Change for KPMG LLP, sees onboarding as a universal challenge and an ideal entry point for KPMG’s technical advisory solutions. He and Mark Shank, managing director for KPMG, joined Dave Vellante on theCUBE during ServiceNow Knowledge 15 to talk about their company’s journey to create a better overall enterprise work experience.
“Onboarding spans across every business, every sector, every level, yet it’s often the most fragmented and disconnected process that exists across an enterprise,” Costar said. “It is [also] the one area that we hear from customers, time and again, that ‘we need to do it better, it’s very expensive, and the experience that our new hires have is inferior. And that inferiority is costing us money.'” Shank echoed that thought by saying, “That ability to retain competitive talent, we can’t lose that opportunity.”
KPMG combines consulting with digital design and delivery capability. “To have an engaging solution and an engaging experience directly drives into the value of what HR is trying to bring to an organization, and can only be accomplished through the innovative design we have through digital,” said Costar.
The company recognizes the need to bring a higher quality experience to onboarding. Digitizing the process will allow for quality and efficiency. “It’s really about designing for people and for the employee’s journey,” said Shank. “And that employee journey crosses over to the customer.”
KPMG plans to take its approach into the financial services and enterprise service management industry.
