theCUBE concluded its inaugural visit to IBM Vision 2015 with key observations on IBM’s mission for analytics and the show itself.

The conference caters to the finance, sales and GRC executives, but brought in executives from many industries and experience levels.

Watson Analytics’ business and predictive capabilities

theCUBE’s Dave Vellante noted that IBM has layered Watson Analytics on top of its collection of businesses to offer 360-degree views of business and predictive capability.

theCUBE cohost Jeff Frick described the interaction with Watson as “Google-esque,” as it works to expose the software to a more broad audience.

Vellante added that IBM is mapping Cloud, social media and analytics into a “digital fabric.”

“There is a big global market that wants to compete with the Ubers and Airbnbs, and IBM is finding new opportunities to build on top of that ever-more-capable digital fabric to accommodate them,” he said.

Using data to help businesses move forward

The concept of bringing unstructured data, such as Twitter, into the decision-making process also got a lot of attention during the conference. “Businesses are finding that more data exists outside of their walls,” saidVellante. “IBM is using that data to help move businesses forward.”
