SDN becomes part of a bigger picture | #ODsummit
SDN is becoming part of a larger framework, according to Bala Thekkedath, SDN/NFV product marketing lead for Ericsson. In his keynote during the recent Open Daylight Summit in Santa Clara, California, Thekkedath discussed how Ericsson and Intel have come together to meet the needs of the service provider network.
“We want to make sure we’re creating products that are applicable to a broad range of solutions,” he said. “SDN is a big part of operator transformation, but also part of a larger journey. We need to think about all the other pieces of the infrastructure that need to fall into place. There is a lot of collaborative work that is happening in the layers below.”
A collaborative community
Thekkedath also recognized the benefit of the Open Daylight platform.
“The greatest advantage … is the reduction in time to take products to market,” he said. “The only way to take things forward in a faster way is to have a collaborative community.”
