Narayan Venkat, CMO of Tegile, Inc., sat down with Dave Vellante and David Foyer of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, at VMworld 2015 in San Francisco to discuss his company’s position in the marketplace and to explain the benefits of the company’s latest product.
Tegile launched its IntelliFlash HD Flash Platform at VMworld this week. According to Venkat, the new product is a single platform with the ability to deploy flash and hybrid in the same system.
The company’s focus is on providing “economics and performance” to the enterprise. Tegile is poised to change the requirement for sustainable storage. With a dramatic wave of new companies entering the storage arena, Venkat said that the thing that differentiates his company is leveraging flash and giving customers high performance to run their apps in a complex system.
Tegile currently serves over 1,000 enterprise customers. The company is fighting it out in a very big market dominated by handful of players. The storage market is estimated to be a $3.8 billion a year industry, and Venkat said, “We are all after the big pie.”
He goes on to say that provisioning a VM now is easier than it was five to seven years ago. So the new question is: How will deployment, management and the framework be simple for the user in the future? “The ground has shifted,” he explained. “What does the world need to look like from a storage infrastructure standpoint, and what value can their storage provider bring?”
Venkat gives credit to VMware for being open with its interfaces and proving that storage can innovate. He mentioned several VMware products and how the company changed the “bottleneck.”
