Round-faced smartwatches fight it out: Huawei Watch vs. 2015 Moto 360 vs. Samsung Gear S2

Taking place this week in Berlin, IFA 2015 has seen the launch of a range of new smartwatches yesterday. Two of those, the Huawei Watch and second generation Moto 360, are round-faced Android Wear devices.

Below we compare the three latest round-faced smartwatches to hit the market to see how they stack up against one another.

Huawei Watch vs. Moto 360 vs. Samsung Gear S2:

Design and dimensions

Huawei Watch: The case measures 42mm in diameter and features a scratch-proof sapphire crystal glass with the crown at the two o’clock position. Case color options include gold, silver and black, all customizable with over 40 watch faces designed for classic, luxury, business and feminine looks. A range of 22mm watch straps includes stainless steel mesh, stainless steel links, rose gold, and black-plated stainless steel links, and brown and black leather options.

Moto 360: Available in two versions: the Moto 360 and Moto 360 Sport. The Moto 360 is available in two sizes: a smaller 42mm case-size aimed at women and a larger 46mm case size aimed at men.

The watch face retains the “flat tire” look of the previous generation Moto 360, but now the watch straps attach to the sides of the watch via traditional lugs and the crown has been moved to the two o’clock position. Quick-release bands let wearers swap between leather and metal bands easily.

Customers can customize their Moto 360 in the Moto Maker design studio and choose from additional bezels, colors, materials, even a new double wrap band.

The Moto 360 Sport has a fixed silicon band.

Gear S2: Available in two versions: the Gear S2 (42.3×49.8×11.4mm) and the Gear S2 classic (39.9×43.6×11.4mm). Both smartwatches feature a rotating bezel and Home and Back buttons to navigate through the user interface (UI) in order to access notifications and apps.

The Gear S2 is available in a Dark Gray case with a Dark Gray band and a Silver case with a White band. The Gear S2 classic is available in a Black case with a Black leather band. Watch bands can be swapped with one click and Samsung says its plans on launching more options.
