Smart lightstrip from Philips Hue for custom accent lighting
Always looking to raise the bar on connected lighting, Royal Philips unveiled yet another new product this week. Called the Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus, the product can be shaped, bent, and extended to up to 10 meters long so you can add smart lighting to any space in any configuration.
The new lightstrip is able to produce various shades of white light, from cool blue white to warm yellow white, and even atmospheric colored light.
“With Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus we’re encouraging people to get creative with light and really interact with it,” explains Leonardo Avezzano, Product Marketing Director of Philips Hue. “Its extendible design along with its connectivity and high lumen output, means that it’s even easier for people to use light to create the experience they want across their home.”
Use the Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus on its own or to enhance existing Philips Hue lights in your home. It is self-adhesive and easy to install so you can place it along the bottom of your hallway, along staircases, in closets or under beds.
The Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus works seamlessly with the Philips Hue ecosystem, which means it benefits from all the unique features of the other Hue lights and is integrated with more than 300 third-party smartphone apps. You can use it with an app that allows you to sync the lighting to your TV for a more immersive viewing experience.
The Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus starter kit comes with a two meter strip and the power adaptor that is priced at €79.95/ $89.95. You can purchase extension strips which costs €24.95 / $29.95 for every one meter. The product will be available in Europe and North America starting October 2015.
Just last week, Philips also introduced its wireless dimming kit that delivers dimming solutions to homes without the need for a professional to install it. It works right out of the box and the dimmer can be placed in any wall of the house or just use it as a remote and place it where you can easily grab it when you need to brighten or dim the lights in the room.
