Where to buy new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
The new iPhones are out. So where can you buy them and how much will it really cost you?
Called the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, the new devices look similar to the older models but boast of new internals and other features including 3D Touch technology, the always-on Hey Siri that acts similarly to Google Now, a 12MP iSight camera, a 5MP FaceTime camera that uses the Retina Display as flash for perfect selfies, Live Photos, an A9 chip, improved LTE, a Move to iOS app for Android users who want to switch to the iPhone, and the new iPhone Upgrade Program. Oh, and there’s a new gadget color called ‘Rose Gold’ for those who want a more feminine touch to their gadgets.
The new iPhones will be available for pre-order starting 12:01 PDT on September 12 and will be available in stores by September 25.
For those who want to purchase the new iPhones directly from Apple, click here. Apple has launched a new iPhone Upgrade Program that allows customers to upgrade to a new iPhone every year without having to pay full price, but there’s a catch. Find out more about the program here.
You can also purchase the new iPhones from select carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
AT&T
You can click here to sign up for AT&T’s alerts for when the iPhones become available in their stores. Verizon has yet to reveal any new offerings for the new iPhones.
Sprint
Sprint has a new iPhone Forever plan that allows you to not only upgrade to a new iPhone anytime you want, but also lowers the cost of owning a new iPhone. To avail of this promo, all you need to do is bring any working smartphone to Sprint to get an iPhone 6 for only $15 a month, then you can trade your iPhone 6 for an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus when they become available. It’s like you’re just renting the iPhone 6 for a very low cost, until you want to upgrade to the new iPhone 6s or 6s Plus. You can also avail of Best Buy’s One Plan which is powered by Sprint to get the latest iPhone without spending too much. The One Plan allows you to lease the current iPhone model so you can easily upgrade to a new one when you want.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile still offers Jump! On Demand which allows consumers to trade in their old smartphone for a new one as many as three times per year. All you need to do is bring your old smartphone (functioning properly and bought from T-Mobile) to trade in for a new smartphone. There is zero upfront fee and zero upgrade fee.
Many consumers have already traded their old iPhones for cash so they can purchase the new ones and according to Gazelle, Inc. the most traded iPhone model was the 5s which represented 35 percent of all iPhones traded using the service. This was followed by the iPhone 6 at 27 percent and iPhone 6 Plus at 15 percent. September 7 saw the largest volume of trading iPhones at 41 percent.
Verizon
Verizon claims you can easily upgrade to a new device as long as you are eligible which you can check here. If you are eligible, you need to pay $40 upgrade fee or if you have a monthly device payment plan or you pay in full, that upgrade fee is waived. If someone else on your plan wants to upgrade and you are eligible, you can transfer the upgrade to the mobile number that wants the upgrade, but note that transferring your eligibility means that you are no longer qualified to upgrade to a new device.
For our friends in the U.K.
