While console gamers have had the time to play through Batman: Arkham Knight a few dozen times by now, PC gamers have still been waiting for Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment Inc to fix the game’s incredibly broken PC port since, which was pulled from digital store shelves in June.
The publisher released an interim patch in September for the stubborn users who had not applied for a refund, but there were mixed reports on whether or not it actually fixed anything. Now it looks like the nearly four-month long wait will soon be over for PC gamers, as Warner Bros has said that it expects Arkham Knight to be available for purchase on PC by the end of October.
“As many of you know, we released a major patch for Batman: Arkham Knight PC a few weeks ago,” Warner Bros. wrote in an update to Arkham Knight’s Steam page. “While there were significant performance improvements made to the game, the teams are continuing to work on the additional updates that were outlined in our previous post. We expect these updates to be ready at the end of October, at which time the PC version will be made available for purchase. In addition, support for all DLC that has been released for the console versions will be in place.
They added, “Thanks again for your continued patience and support. We’ll be sure to update everyone as soon as the update is live.”
There is no word yet on whether or not Warner Bros will offer any kind of peace offering for PC players such as free downloadable content, season pass refunds or game discounts, and while there still are plenty of Arkham series fans who are all too happy to throw their money at the publisher, there are also more than a few critics who are still unhappy with how long it is taking for the game to be made playable.
Currently, the responses to Warner Bros’ update on Steam seem to be a flood of ASCII art penises and middle fingers, so it is pretty obvious how some of the Steam community feels.
