After a five-month wait, Android users will finally get to enjoy Apple Music. Released on Tuesday, Android users are now able to download the beta version of Apple Music for Android (via TechCrunch).
The Android version is available in all the same countries that Apple Music is currently available, except for China where it will roll out in the near future.
Just like Apple users, Android users are able to test the water and see if Apple Music is a good fit for them with the same free 3-month trial. Pricing also stays the same worldwide.
Once you download the Android version of Apple Music, you are able to log in easily using your Apple ID. At the same stage, you can create an Apple ID if you don’t have one.
Once you are ready to listen to some music, everything is pretty much the same as the iOS version. Get handpicked recommendations based on what you love with For You. Browse the latest music offerings with New. Enjoy radio shows on Beats 1 or alternative radio stations. Access all the iTunes music you have purchased in My Music as well as accessing your favorite Apple Music Playlists. You are also able to download playlists and songs to listen to while you are offline. Finally, use the Connect feature to learn more about your favorite artists.
As the Android version of Apple Music is still only a beta version it is to be expected that not everything will be exactly the same as the original.
A family membership option is not yet available, so your only option would be to sign up for an individual subscription at a cost of $9.99 per month. Getting a family subscription for $14.99 that will allow six people to share a subscription will only be possible using an iOS device or a Mac.
If you currently have a family subscription, which you signed up for previously, then you can simply log in using your Apple ID.
The Android version of Apple Music also doesn’t have Music Videos at this stage, but these are differences that are likely to change with subsequent versions.
If you have a great collection of music in iTunes that you have accumulated over the years, then Apple Music is likely to be a good choice for you. Taking advantage of their curated playlists is also a great way to find new music that you wouldn’t necessarily come across without Apple Music. With the free 3-month trial, you don’t have much to lose and if you are a music fanatic you may be signing up for a subscription in three months’ time.
If you are interested in Apple Music and have Android 4.3 or later, you can download the Android version now on the Play store and start your trial.
