N2W Software enhanced its Cloud Protection Manager NEWS

N2W Software enhances its backup and recovery solution for Amazon EC2

N2W Software has enhanced its Cloud Protection Manager enterprise backup, recovery and disaster recovery solution for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, Amazon EBS volumes and Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) databases.

Leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) native technology, Cloud Protection Manager 2.0 (CPM 2.0) lets AWS customers automate, control and maintain backup and recovery activities for their enterprise production environments.

Key new features and enhancements in CPM 2.0, which is available immediately, include the following:

  • File-Level Recovery: Extending beyond disk-level instant recovery, users can quickly search and recover files and folders in Amazon EC2 using a web-based console.
  • Efficient and Scalable Windows Backup: This release provides application-aware live backup of Microsoft applications, using a new generation of thin backup agents with built-in support for Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). Backups can be created reliably without interrupting ongoing operations while ensuring their consistency for a single point in time.
  • Amazon Aurora and MariaDB RDS Backups: CPM 2.0 delivers extended data protection to all types of Amazon RDS databases, including the newly released Amazon Aurora clusters and MariaDB.
  • Enhanced Automation: The tool has a command line interface (CLI) utility and an extensive set of RESTful application programming interfaces (APIs), which help DevOps teams seamlessly integrate backup and recovery operations with other cloud automation processes to create an automated and streamlined cloud computing environment.

CPM 2.0 also has one-click Windows server recovery in AWS, Amazon Machine Image (AMI) scheduling, detailed recovery monitoring, support for AWS’ new Asia Pacific (Seoul) Region and support for all types of Amazon EC2 instances.

“Backup of cloud environments is a shared responsibility, and the availability of the upgraded version of Cloud Protection Manager on AWS Marketplace provides customers with a streamlined way to immediately purchase and deploy the solution to protect their data,” said Barry Russell, GM Global Catalog and Channels, AWS Marketplace in a news release.
