Rumored HTC 10 vs. Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. LG G5: New name, images leaked
At Mobile World Congress 2016 — that recently took place in Barcelona, Spain — both Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and LG Electronics Inc. unveiled their latest Android flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 range, and LG G5, respectively.
Absent from the event was HTC Corp., rumored to be gearing up to launch its own new Android flagship, the HTC One M10.
On Friday, separate tweets from well-known leaksters @onleaks and @evleaks (via Droid Life), revealed that HTC’s new handset will, in fact, be called the “HTC 10” — dropping the “One M” designation — and shared what are said to be official press renders showing off the device from multiple angles.
Before we dive into what’s revealed by the images, let’s take a look at how the HTC 10 stacks up against the Galaxy S7 and LG G5 in the technical department.

Design
The press renders (above) come via @evleaks and shows off the HTC 10’s 5.1-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button, a USB Type-C port, and a double chamfer design.
The design seems to lack front-facing stereo speakers, which might indicate that HTC has dropped Boomsound audio.
Internal components
All three devices run on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with an Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Storage options for all three include a 32GB model and, like the competition, the HTC 10’s storage can be expanded via microSD card.
Cameras
HTC opted for a conventional 20MP sensor in the HTC One M9 over the four UltraPixel resolution camera tech it introduced on the One M8. Rumors suggest the company will again trot out its UltraPixel systems on the HTC 10 in the form of a 12-UltraPixel resolution lens with laser-assisted autofocus and optical image stabilization (OIS). There’s no word on the pixel count for the front-facing camera, but it’s said to also feature OIS.
Both the Galaxy S7 and LG G5 feature new camera tech: the S7 has Dual Pixel 12MP lens and the LG G5 has two rear cameras, one a standard 16MP lens, and the other a wide-angle 8MP unit.
Availability
HTC is said to be preparing for a possible mid-April announcement with the HTC 10 going on sale somewhere around mid-May.
