Jay and Silent Bob game successfully funded on Fig

With only a few hours remaining in its crowdfunding campaign on Fig, Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch has successfully reached its $400,000 funding goal, ensuring that the foul-mouthed slacker duo will be getting their first ever video game.

“The outpouring of fan support has been truly humbling,” Interabang Entertainment co-founder Justin Woodward said in a statement. “Thanks to the Fig community, we will have the creative freedom to create an epic gaming adventure that blends the wit and humor of Kevin Smith movies with fast-paced, co-op gaming action.”

“We’ve breathed life into Jay and Silent Bob in movies, TV and comics for more than 20 years, and now we can tell their story through an interactive medium. But what is a video game?” added director Kevin Smith, jokingly referring to the original announcement video for the game.

If you still want to become a backer for the campaign with a chance to win a cameo role in Kevin Smith’s next film, you had better act quick, as the campaign will end at 6pm PDT tonight.

According to the data on the game’s campaign page, roughly 73 percent of the total funds raised came from investments rather than regular campaign backers, proving once again the Fig caters to an entirely different type of supporter than other crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter.

Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch will be the third game successfully funded through Fig out of the five total campaigns launched on the platform so far. Other successes include Outer Wilds, which raised $126,480, and Psychonauts 2, which raised an incredible $3.8 million.

So far, the only project that has failed on Fig was Anchors in the Drift, which raised about 21 percent of its $500,000 goal before its campaign ended.

The second failure will likely be the campaign for the PC version of Rock Band 4, which has currently raised less than half of its $1.5 million goal with only five days left before the end of its campaign.
