Disrupting established analyst norms in tech

The business world is a complex, ever-changing place, and nowhere is that more true than the business technology sector. Every company that wants to succeed knows the value of research and analysis. Just as technology is changing the way products are developed and marketed, so too is innovation altering the research landscape.

Dave Vellante, co-CEO of SiliconANGLE Media and cofounder and Chief Research Officer or Wikibon, is asking a simple question: Is there a faster, more cost-effective way to perform business technology research than the established approach?

A new method

What Vellante and his colleagues have set out to do is dramatically change the content and media business, with a focus on the analyst side. They have developed tools and techniques to compress the time it takes to build high-quality research, and the results have been unbelievable.

The goal of this effort is to collaborate with community leaders and create content that can build meaningful organizational value and contribute to constructive change.

The ground floor

The group’s first topic involves talking to a board of directors about cyber security. The idea is to provide a research document to help people understand the best ways of communicating with a board about the means and necessity of cyber security.

Vellante is putting out a call to any qualified people who would like to participate in a crowd chat to directly answer 10 questions about talking cyber security to a board. Those who answer this call will contribute value to the community by sharing their knowledge, and will be recognized and called out as a thought leader. They will also get to participate in the disruption of the entrenched analyst business. Most importantly, they will receive a copy of the research to do with as they like.

Those who are interested in being a part of this effort should contact Dave Vellante on Twitter either to participate or for more information.
