With more than 1,000 customers, Opus Interactive, Inc. wanted a controller-bound storage platform that was flexible enough to meet the needs of so many users. For this, they chose HPE Converged Infrastructure because it met their needs of a software-managed, scalable, quickly implementable solution with the goal of significantly reducing operating costs while increasing efficiency.
Milan Shetti, VP and CTO of the Storage Division at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co., and Eric Hulbert, CEO of Opus Interactive, sat down with Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and John Furrier (@furrier), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during HPE Discover 2016 in Las Vegas.
Having been in business since the early 2000s, Opus Interactive had assembled a legacy network of traditional hardware-based storage arrays. This was inefficient and expensive, and the company saw opportunity to move to a faster, easier, software-managed virtual storage platform that would cut costs while enhancing customer efficiency.
“We wanted something that every time we added a shelf, we added performance,” explained Hulbert. For this, they went with the HPE ConvergedSystem.
Part of Opus Interactive’s drive for efficiency is ease of use. This is one of the core reasons the company chose to go with an automated, software-managed data fabric.
“That’s the work we’re doing, getting things down to that one clickable button,” said Shetti.
