Supporting diverse perspectives to make the cloud community better | #theCUBE

Office of the Cloud is a group of leaders from tech organizations who convene to share ideas and learn from each other’s successes and failures with cloud technology. It’s all about “putting companies together to talk to each other and being able to solve problems,” explained Dao Jensen, CEO of Kaizen Technology Partners, as well as the founder of Office of the Cloud.

The Office of the Cloud has a commitment to supporting women in becoming a larger part of the cloud ecosystem and economy.

Jensen recently joined Lisa Martin (@Luccazara), host of theCUBE*, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile live streaming studio, at the CloudNOW – 5th Annual “Top 10 Women in Cloud” Innovation Awards, held in Mountain View, CA. (*Disclosure below) They discussed her work with CloudNOW, as well as the importance of different points of view in technology. CloudNOW is a non-profit consortium of leading women in cloud computing and converging technologies.

A diverse perspective is important

Part of Jensen’s work with CloudNOW is to make sure there are sponsors from all cloud-public companies, as well as private. She has recently been working on more partnerships and scholarships for next year in CloudNOW, especially for the Holberton School of Software Engineering.

“I actually started out with a finance degree, not knowing what a CPU is,” said Jensen.

She has found that her finance background helps her to relate to her clients. It’s not only about understanding how technology works and how it can solve problems, there are also aspects such as politics, finance and personality that come into play in decision-making, she explained.

Jensen said that is why she believes it’s important for people with diverse backgrounds to work with and contribute to the world of technology.
