Dell EMC leverages partner ecosystem to design customizable, pre-built systems

There isn’t a business alive that looks forward to spending time and budget on building out their IT infrastructure. It’s a necessary thing, even critical, but most companies would rather do something else, like make money. The answer lies in pre-built systems, turnkey solutions, according to Armughan Ahmad (pictured), senior vice president and general manager of solutions and alliances, Converged Platforms and Solutions Division, at Dell EMC, Dell Technologies Inc.’s infrastructure group.

Dell EMC is using its reach and partner ecosystem to design a new standard of customizable, pre-built system solutions. “We’re focused on delighting our customers related to customer outcomes and workloads,” Ahmad said.

Ahmad spoke with John Furrier (@furrier) and John Walls (@JohnWalls21), co-hosts of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE’s mobile live-streaming studio, during the Dell EMC World conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. He discussed Dell EMC’s Ready Solutions and the company’s alliance ecosystem. (* Disclosure below.)

Using market position to build new solutions

Dell EMC has a strong market position in the industry, being number one in a lot of areas, Ahmad explained. However, that’s just in products, something customers buy from them. Ready Solutions go on top of that, using the products and partnerships of Dell’s number one position to craft pre-made solutions that are ready for the customer, he added.

The solutions come in four areas: high-performance computing, data analytics, critical applications for software-defined infrastructure, and hybrid cloud. Dell EMC is trying to create Ready Solutions all across the customer continuum, Ahmad stated.

These systems offer benefits for customers not just in terms of simple installation, but also in effectiveness, Ahmad explained. A powerful, tuned and verified system can burn through workloads very quickly. With their strong partner ecosystem, Dell EMC can deliver a solution for almost any need, he added.

“[Ready Solutions] is a full business unit that we’re enabling through alliance partner applications,” Ahmad said. This isn’t about selling a partner’s software, he added. Using the products offered by its partners, Dell EMC can build out a Ready bundle that helps customers stand up a solution quickly.
