Hyperconverged infrastructure adoption on the rise, says tech company COO
The newly hired chief operating officer of Winslow Technology Group LLC, a provider of information technology solutions and consulting services, is in a position to hear from IT customers about what excites them. And he’s already heard enough to know that hyperconverged infrastructure is capturing the IT world’s attention.
“What’s really exciting is the whole move to hyperconverged. We’re seeing a lot of interest in point technologies like software-defined data center and software-defined networking,” said Ed Palmer (pictured, right), WTG’s COO.
Palmer spoke with Stu Miniman (pictured, left) (@stu), host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE’s mobile livestreaming studio, at the recent WTG Dell EMC Users’ Group event in Boston, Massachusetts. They discussed how WTG is working with customers on game-changing technologies and the group’s status as a top Dell EMC partner. (* Disclosure below.)
One-click simplicity drives adoption
The continued shift to cloud-based technologies and customer interest in HCI is keeping the Winslow team busy. Scott Winslow, WTG’s chief executive officer, recently attributed simplicity in the HCI model, where one-click can upgrade storage, server and hypervisor, as a key motivator for increased adoption.
“Obviously, the industry is changing all the time. What’s exciting for us is working with our breadth of partners to really understand how those technologies and solutions address the business needs of our customers,” Palmer said.
Earlier this year, Dell EMC launched its integrated Partner Program. As a Titanium Partner, WTG sits at the program’s highest level (except for the special invite-only Titanium Black level). This position in the Partner Program requires WTG to develop and meet specific training plan targets every year.
“It is quite a challenge to keep up with all the training and certification requirements,” said Palmer, who indicated that WTG had already completed 80 percent of its training plan for the year. “They do require a lot of time, but they’re important to maintaining Titanium level,” he stated.
