Manifold exits stealth to simplify how developers buy cloud services

Development teams increasingly employ cloud-based tools as part of their work — so much so, in fact, that managing all the different services used for a project can often be a major hassle.

Arigato Machine Inc., which conducts business under the Manifold name, has spent the past year and a half working on a solution. Today, the San Francisco-based exited stealth mode to unveil the fruit of its efforts: a (what else) cloud service designed the centralize the provisioning of modern development tools.

Manifold achieves that with a sleek administrative console that lets managers quickly set up the subscriptions needed for a project. Each item appears in the interface as a customizable “Resource.” Users can select the desired pricing tier, connect the service to the credit card they wish to pay with and define settings such as where their deployments should run.

From there, Manifold provides the ability to group the different Resources according to the projects they’re associated with. This enables administrators to keep an eye on subscriptions and quickly make changes when necessary. At the end of each month, all the active subscriptions are combined into a single bill.

According to Manifold, its consolidated approach can free up the time that developers sink into managing accounts for more meaningful work. This could add up quickly in a large organization that has a lot of technical personnel, as well as smaller firms with a high project volume. Plus, the fact that subscriptions may be viewed in one place has the potential to reduce wasteful spending by helping managers spot unused accounts faster.

Manifold works with more than a dozen services on launch. The lineup includes the Mailgun programmatic email platform, LogDNA Inc.’s application monitoring product and hosted versions of popular open-source tools.

The startup will work to add more integrations via a newly launched partner initiative. To support the effort, Manifold has raised $15 million in financing from a consortium led by Canadian fund OMERS Ventures.
