Today’s hyperconverged network reality requires more than a cookie-cutter approach

Solutions that are “one-size-fits-all” or “out-of-the-box” are passé in today’s marketplace. It’s imperative that companies listen to their customers, working through scenarios and real-world examples of customer issues and building a solution that works best for them.

“… As a solution provider, that’s our job — to produce results and outcomes for our customers. That’s how we’re going to be judged,” said Scott Winslow (pictured), founder and president of Winslow Technology Group LLC, a tech solutions company. “As this whole industry evolves and the digital economy progresses, there continues to be a need for [IT transformation].”

Winslow spoke with Stu Miniman (@stu), co-host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, during the WTG Transform event in Boston, Massachusetts. They discussed how WTG has learned to be flexible and how software is where customers put their emphasis. (* Disclosure below.)

It’s all about the software

“Customers today are less concerned about where a platform goes … because they’re truly creating all their revenues from the software side,” Winslow said.

WTG grew through acquisitions, have learned to be flexible, and have found that adding solutions allows the company to provide more options for end users, according to Winslow. He believes that his company has the best two solutions in the hyperconverged marketplace, between the portfolio of Dell EMC solutions and Nutanix Inc. WTG tends to put Nutanix on a Dell server platform, providing a way to bridge any gaps between the two solutions, he explained.

A hands-on lab was running during the WTG Transform event that gave customers the opportunity to come in and play with structured and scripted demos, as well as allowing them to work through storage and hyperconverged solutions on Dell’s SC Series, VxRail and Unity. Not only was this useful to the customers, the feedback provided to WTG will be used to build future solutions, Winslow concluded.
