Software listing company Tackle.io adds support for Google and Microsoft clouds

Software sales automation company Tackle.io Inc. is adding support for major public cloud marketplaces, including the Google LLC’s Cloud Platform Marketplace and Microsoft Corp.’s Azure Marketplace and AppSource.

Tackle, which already supported Amazon Web Services Inc.’s AWS Marketplace, sells a platform called Upstream that independent software vendors can use to list their software for sale on major cloud platforms more easily.

The company claims it can help customers to get their products listed quickly by automating the process for them. It also provides additional services including detailed transaction reporting and integration with third-party systems to help modernize software procurement.

“Our vision at Tackle is to help software companies generate more revenue faster through the cloud,” John Jahnke, chief executive officer of Tackle, said in a statement. “Tackle started with a laser focus on the AWS Marketplace, but as we’ve grown we have heard consistent feedback from ISVs that Microsoft and Google are both key partners as they look to the future.”

Tackle pointed out that listing software on public cloud marketplaces is actually much more difficult than most people realize, as it can take months for some companies to ensure that their software meets the necessary criteria to be included. Moreover, some companies simply don’t have the resources on hand to do this themselves.

A case in point is Augmentir Inc., which sells an “augmented operations” software platform to enable digital transformation through big data-generated insights. In Augmentir’s case, it wanted to list its software on Microsoft’s Azure Marketplace prior to that company’s 2019 Inspire conference, but simply didn’t have the manpower to get everything ready in time.

“We chose to use the Tackle Upstream platform at the suggestion of Microsoft, and were pleased with the results,” said Chris Kuntz, vice president of engineering at Augmentir. “The Tackle team did a great job supporting us through the entire listing process, helping us meet our tight timeline in a very cost-effective manner.”

Tackle’s services themselves can be purchased via the AWS Markeplace, the GCP Marketplace and the Azure Marketplace.
