Qlik revamps its cloud-based big-data analytics offering

Swedish big-data company QlikTech International AB is revamping its cloud-based, software-as-a-service offering with today’s launch of its rebranded Qlik Sense Business platform.

Qlik is a provider of business intelligence software that enables enterprises to visualize their data in graphically rich dashboards and run analyses to find useful patterns.

The company’s core technology is a big-data analysis engine that uses open application programming interfaces to tap into almost any software architecture or stack, platform and language. Qlik can analyze data from more than 40 different sources and provide automated insights generated with artificial intelligence, delivered via visualizations such as charts, graphs, number tables, bubble charts and other visual aids.

The new Qlik Sense Business offering is an upgrade to the company’s Qlik Sense Cloud Business product, aimed at providing a richer analytical experience than the earlier version. One of the new capabilities in this release is a natural language processing feature that enables to query data from various sources using their voice.

“As users engage with Insight Advisor, they are now able to enter search criteria using full natural language,” the company said. “The Qlik Cognitive Engine parses the search string to understand the user’s intent and provide the right data and insights based on search criteria.”

Qlik Sense Business also provides updated connectors for Salesforce.com Inc.’s and Snowflake Computing Inc.’s respective platforms, expanding its customers access to those important data sources.

“Qlik is driving the third generation of business intelligence software with our cloud-first, enterprise SaaS analytics platform,” Qlik Chief Technology Officer Mike Potter said in a statement. “Qlik Sense Business helps any organization rapidly improve data literacy and data-driven decision making with a built-in upgrade path that grows their analytics alongside their business.”

The company said Qlik Sense Business is available now. It’s also offering a free 30-day trial to companies that want to take the new platform for a spin.

Itamar Ankorion, head of enterprise data integration at Qlik, and Drew Clarke, the company’s chief strategy officer, appeared in April on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s video studio, where they discussed the company’s products and services and its strategy:
