Menlo Security launches new data loss prevention solution

Cloud security startup Menlo Security Inc. today announced its new Data Loss Prevention solution powered by Isolation Core, a service that the company claims is a world’s first.

The solution, introduced at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, is available as part of Menlo’s Global Cloud Proxy Platform. It’s built on the company’s patented Isolation Core, a service that provides virtualization-based security features to protect core services.

“Current DLP solutions have critical shortcomings, and we decided that we could not accept the status quo,” Poornima DeBolle, co-founder and chief product officer at Menlo Security, said in a statement. “As websites use dynamic, targeted content, a DLP solution that relies on network/proxy traffic will have severely degraded data visibility. Unwilling to settle for trade-offs, we created the DLP solution that leverages our Isolation Core to provide perfect visibility to the DLP engine — something that cannot be achieved by DLP solutions without isolation.”

The Menlo Security Cloud DLP powered by Isolation Core is said to redefine how data is monitored to provide the complete protection. It does so through Menlo’s Global Cloud Proxy that allows for fast, secure web access to applications and enables IT departments to scale security services for large organizations while reducing operational costs.

The company pitches the service as allowing users to test services in a native browser with no compromise to security or user experience. Administrators can define policies from a single interface and apply them to all users globally, whether they are connecting from the office or remotely.

Cloud DLP is available to new and existing Menlo Security customers.
