Infrastructure automation startup Quali Systems raises $54M

Cloud and DevOps infrastructure automation startup Quali Systems Ltd. said today it has raised $54 million in a new round of funding.

Greenfield Partners and JVP co-led the Series D round, which brings Quali’s total amount raised close to $100 million.

Quali sells a software platform called CloudShell that helps companies optimize the cloud infrastructure they use and automate cloud access and security management. It’s used by organizations to integrate complex communication networks and information technology infrastructure more easily, and to simplify access to cloud infrastructure by automating various organizational processes.

“Development teams are burdened by the time and complexity of setting up and operating cloud infrastructure,” Quali Chief Executive Lior Koriat explained. “Quali empowers developers to develop, testers to test, planners to plan, and ops to operate by offering safe and productive access to hybrid cloud infrastructure.”

One thing that sets Quali apart is that while traditional infrastructure-as-code providers focus on a relatively small set of experts, its technology simplifies the user experience in such a way that the cloud infrastructure and its complexity is basically invisible to the application teams that use it.

Quali’s platform enables application teams to create and manage network topologies from test bed devices in the lab, or from pre-made templates. They can then model different application environments via a drag-and-drop interface, combining various physical and virtual infrastructure, network connectivity apps and cloud interfaces. The software also provides business intelligence, analytics and audit trails on cloud infrastructure usage.

Quali said its software is used by network carriers, network equipment manufacturers, service providers, data center operators and financial services firms, and named the likes of Cisco Systems Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Dell Technologies Inc. as major customers.

The company will use the new funds to expand its customer base, grow its workforce and enable new partnerships.
