Applause launches application testing platform with expert community

Crowdsourced testing solutions company Applause App Quality Inc. today announced the launch of its Product Excellent Platform to provide customers access to enterprise-grade software-as-a-service infrastructure, digital testing solutions and access to the world’s largest community of digital experts.

With PEP, Applause intends to provide customers and brands the capability of finding bugs in software before code is deployed and providing insight into quality for development pipelines across the entire application development lifecycle.

“Customers today are won and lost through digital experiences,” said Doron Reuveni, Applause’s founder and chief executive. “That is why the quality of digital assets – mobile apps, websites, voice-driven experiences and more – is critical to get right. While others offer point tools, the PEP is the first holistic answer for digital quality and product excellence for the enterprise.”

The PEP is designed to be open and integrate easily into clients’ existing processes for ease of use in testing. It works on five core pillars including SaaS products using Applause codeless automation, multipoint testing solutions, deep domain expertise, enterprise-class SaaS domain expertise, enterprise-class SaaS infrastructure, and a global testing community.

Applause provides SaaS Codeless Automation and Bring Your Own Testers SaaS products, which provides for a multitude of client needs. Multipoint testing solutions are also fully integrated to allow for functional specialized testing of complex use cases as part of the PEP to solve customer interactions. Deep domain expertise comes from Applause’s network of experts across numerous industries such as retail, media and entertainment, financial services, travel and hospitality, healthcare and the “internet of things.”

The enterprise-class SaaS domain expertise infrastructure that underpins the Product Excellence Platform is designed to integrate with clients’ existing testing and development processes and pipelines to speed up testing. And the global testing community at Applause’s uTest community is a large pool of experts that serves as a foundation that connects clients to even deeper wells of resources.

Additionally, Applause announced two new offerings that will expand the Product Excellence Platform with codeless automation capability and in-sprint testing capability. The latter refers to debugging on a constant basis without having to stop development to fix things.

With codeless automation across SaaS products, test scripts can be quickly generated using Applause Codeless Automation without the need for coding expertise. This means that the barrier for entry is lowered and it allows low-code and no-code testers to enter into testing earlier in the development cycle.

“The Applause Codeless Automation product is something unique in the low-code/no-code testing space, as it is built for the enterprise – starting with the most advanced mobile support for both iOS and Android,” said Rob Mason, chief technology officer of Applause.

With ACA, any users can pick devices of their choice, and as they move through their test case, their actions are recorded and the session is recorded into a test script. That makes for increased speed, faster releases and reduced costs.

Next is in-sprint testing capability, which enables Applause full two-way integration with clients’ bug-tracking. This means developers can send new features to Applause for manual testing and receive feedback and results almost immediately.

With in-sprint testing, organizations can better “shift-left” during testing, which means that testing happens earlier in the development cycle so defects can be caught earlier before they are baked into code or design.

This part of the PEP allows DevOps teams to resolve bug tickets faster and identify issues earlier in the process to avoid late-stage problems and the higher costs and developmental risks that come with that.
