Alation launches Cloud Service to increase faster time-to-value from enterprise data

Enterprise data intelligence solutions provider Alation Inc. is expanding its services across hybrid architecture.

Today, the company launched Alation Cloud Service, a cloud-based platform for data intelligence that connects to virtually any data source within cloud platforms or on-premises through cloud native connectors. The goal is to get faster time-to-value from data through effective search while minimizing overhead.

“If you’re a user of data, you might have to hunt through a myriad of reports, thousands of tables in a database, hundreds of thousands of files in a data lake, and you might not know where to find your answer,” said Satyen Sangani (pictured), chief executive officer and co-founder of Alation. “Just like Google has PageRank to help it inform which are the best results for a given webpage, we do the exact same thing with data. Great search is the basis for what we do.”

Sangani spoke with Lisa Martin, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how the new Cloud Service meets the needs of companies seeking to improve competitiveness through faster decisions and Alation’s distribution partnership with Amazon Web Services Inc. Providing data context

The launch of Alation Cloud Service is designed to allow organizations to gain context from data stores more easily, an important consideration for many of the firm’s major customers that need to make decisions rapidly in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

“They often tell me: ‘Look, we’ve got to build products faster, we’ve got to move at the speed and scale of all of the startups that are nipping at our heels,’” Sangani said. “The way we empower people is by giving them context and to give them the data to make the right decisions. The biggest thing that we do is help companies be much more proactive much more easily.”

The new cloud service is available now through Alation and on the AWS Marketplace.

“The ability to stand up Alation and get it moving now means just going to the AWS Marketplace or calling an Alation representative, and within a matter of minutes get an Alation instance that’s up and running and fit-for-purpose for what you need,” Sangani said. “That capability is really quite powerful.”
