CircleCI introduces new DevOps capabilities with server 3.1
Circle Internet Services Inc., a continuous integration and delivery platform for DevOps teams, today announced the launch of a major server update with version 3.1, which includes enhancements to security, observability and integrations.
The company also filled out its management team, announcing the appointment of Apurva “AJ” Joshi as chief product officer.
CircleCI introduces server 3.1
The latest version of CircleCI’s server is designed to provide security, compliance and meet regulatory needs for enterprise teams. It’s a self-hosted solution that can scale multiple services at once within a DevOps team’s Kubernetes cluster and network within the CircleCI cloud.
As part of the server 3.1 release, CircleCI is joining Amazon Web Services Elastic Kubernetes Service Partner listing in order to deliver continuous delivery and deployment for Kubernetes users. It now simplifies the installation process as a result for EKS users and can expedite development.
Capabilities new to server 3.1 include CircleCI runner on the server, which adds the ability for DevOps teams to expand their compute options to macOS and run unique builds on their own infrastructure. Increased backup and restore capabilities that include local and cloud-based services, along with the ability to restore server instances to a previous backup.
With access to the observability stack, operators get an improved view into the health of the server instance via metrics like central processing unit and memory usage.
External endpoint integrations are also new available and configurable for Postgres, MongoDB and Vault. It is also possible to configure output to data services such as Datadog and InfluxDB to monitor installations.
It is now also possible to make CircleCI servers private using a privately assigned internet protocol address for use with a load balancer or a virtual private network or other secure network access tools.
CircleCI appoints Apurva Joshi as chief product officer
Apurva Joshi will be joining CircleCI as chief product officer. His priorities will include expanding the company’s development of emerging cloud-native markets, including the platform’s insights capabilities and CircleCI’s server offerings such as server 3.1.
He has more than 19 years of experience developing new product strategies and building scalable cloud services. He most recently served as chief product officer and vice president of Product at DigitalOcean, where he led the product roadmap to develop cloud solutions. Prior to that, he served in customer experience and leadership roles at Microsoft.
“Today, building software is more complex than ever, begging the need for automation and validation solutions at every stage of the development lifecycle,” said Joshi. “I look forward to driving the next phase of CircleCI’s product vision.”
Apruva’s appointment follows CircleCI’s second round of $100 million and acquisition of the release orchestration platform, Vamp BV, last month.
