Leveraging AI for expedient enterprise-level insight generation
With businesses being inundated by data, the modern edge lies with those who find innovative ways to process it better, faster and more efficiently. Artificial intelligence is one of those innovative avenues.
“From website metrics to customer service records and even onsite sensors, enterprises are accumulating tremendous amounts of data, and unlocking insights from it is key to our enterprise’s success,” said Rob Bearden (pictured, left), chief executive officer at enterprise data cloud company Cloudera Inc. “At Cloudera, we believe this onslaught of data offers an opportunity to make better business decisions faster, and we want to make that easier for everyone, whether it’s fraud detection, demand forecasting, preventative maintenance or customer churn.”
Bearden, Manuvir Das (pictured, right), head of enterprise computing at Nvidia Corp.; and Joe Ansaldi, chief technical brand leader at the Internal Revenue Service; spoke with Dave Vellante, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during the Cloudera “Transform Innovative Ideas Into Data-Driven Insights” event. They discussed Cloudera’s enterprise data-focused collaboration with Nvidia. (* Disclosure below.)
The modern problem
In the past, the issue with running (or scaling) a business was that there simply wasn’t enough data to make informed decisions. Nowadays, the reverse is the case — there’s too much data floating around.
It’s not enough for businesses and organizations of all sizes to just be information-driven. In this modern, hyper-competitive world, speed and agility in data analysis and insight generation are key to business success.
“Whether the goal is to save money or produce income, every day that companies don’t gain deep insight from their data is money they’ve lost. And the reason we’re talking about speed and why speed is everything in a hybrid world and in a hyper-competitive climate is that the faster we get insights from all of our data, the faster we grow and the more competitive we are,” Bearden explained.
Starting out life as a consumer electronics brand focused on graphical computing hardware, Nvidia evolved to become a full-stack accelerated computing company. Partnering with Cloudera, both companies have united with the vision of tapping the power of technologies like AI to democratize accelerated computing for all businesses.
