BIG DATA

Commvault’s Connections21 event to reveal the company’s latest strides in intelligent data services on Oct. 28

As threats to the security and long-term fidelity of enterprise data become more commonplace, including zero-day vulnerability and ransomware and distributed denial-of-service attacks, the onus is increasingly being placed on data protection and management solutions providers to meet customers at their points of need.

Enterprise software provider Commvault Systems Inc., which provides enterprise software focused on data backup and recovery, as well as cloud infrastructure management and compliance, is answering the call. Having ridden a wave that saw the company record its largest quarterly revenue this year (at $191.3 million for fiscal fourth quarter), it has enjoyed a rise in popularity for its product portfolio.

On Oct. 28, the company will hold its Connections21 event — themed “Be Ready. Be Connected. Be Inspired.” During the free online event, Commvault Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Mirchandani and other Commvault experts, customers and partners will discuss how the company helps information technology professionals accelerate their cloud journeys and digital transformations while dealing with data sprawl, fragmentation and security threats.

“This premier industry event will be focused on hybrid data services,” said Dave Vellante, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. TheCUBE will cover the event live from the Commvault headquarters in Tinton Falls, N.J. Register here. (* Disclosure below.)

Record performance across the board

With the popularity of cloud solutions and infrastructures as opposed to physical data centers, savvy and effective data protection, management and deployment are a necessity rather than a luxury. As Commvault competes in the data protection and data management market, it is now focused on ransomware and supporting digital businesses with a resilience strategy, according to Vellante.

“Commvault has a long history of supporting data protection needs of its customers,” he said. “The company has a robust software stack that is mature and evolving … they have added cloud offerings and, like many in this business, are specifically focusing on ransomware and recovery from cyberattacks.”

Publicly traded on the Nasdaq exchange and with a reported revenue of $723.5 million for fiscal year 2021, Commvault has enjoyed profound success on the back of its more recent product launches, including its Metallic SaaS backup solution

“Our portfolio and roadmap are strong, our team is focused on execution, and our vision is resonating in the marketplace,” said Mirchandani said upon release of the company’s latest earnings report. “While our work is never done, our transformation efforts thus far have been successful and we expect will fuel our continued growth in the new fiscal year.”

As expected, a large part of the company’s strong year-over-year increase in earnings was its software and products revenue, which accounted for $89.4 million (or 46.7%) of the company’s fourth-quarter revenue.

Commvault’s Metallic and Intelligent Data to headline the event

Centerstage at the event will be Commvault’s Intelligent Data Services Platform. With features such as data protection, backup and disaster recovery, Commvault’s existing portfolio, including Metallic, will be a primary focus on event day. Connections21’s keynotes will also touch on real instances of Commvault helping IT professionals and companies on their accelerated digital transformation journeys.

The agenda includes speakers Dave Martin, chief security officer at ADP Inc., and Stephen Orban, general manager of the AWS Marketplace & Control Services at Amazon Web Services Inc., touching on topics like the critical importance of partnerships between IT and security stakeholders. Keynoter Sanjay Mirchandani, Commvault’s CEO, will share his unique insights on SaaS and data protection.

One main panel discussion will focus on data protection as it has evolved in the current multicloud era. And participants will unpack the real-world challenges around securing their data repositories and workloads and how they’ve found success in securing their cloud environments from threats within and without.
