Aviatrix embeds native traffic inspection and security enforcement into its multicloud network

Multicloud networking startup Aviatrix Systems Inc. is building native security into its platform with the launch of ThreatIQ with ThreatGuard.

Launching today, the new offering embeds security across the Aviatrix multicloud data plane and enables each node across a network to carry out traffic inspection and policy enforcement.

Aviatrix sells a multicloud network platform that enterprises can use to manage the flow of data across multiple public and private cloud environments. Historically, companies would need to adopt separate network tools for each platform, but Aviatrix allows teams to coordinate all of their cloud traffic through a single pane of class and automate routine maintenance tasks.

Now it’s getting a good dose of security too. With ThreatIQ with ThreatGuard, traffic can now be inspected in real-time as it crosses the Aviatrix network, enabling deeper visibility into activity that might be missed by traditional network security approaches such as next generation firewalls.

By embedding ThreatIQ with ThreatGuard into the Aviatrix multicloud data plane, each node within the network is now able to carry out traffic inspection and enforcement of rules. Meanwhile, the service also enables policy-based automated remediation of any threats it identifies, eliminating delays that come when such actions have to be taken manually.

Aviatrix says this kind of enhanced network security is needed because multicloud network architectures are becoming more popular due to the simplicity they provide, leading to increased exposure to a wider variety of risks. It means enterprises can struggle to manage threats around data exfiltration and malicious traffic across cloud services.

Many companies try to get around this by funneling their multicloud traffic through third-party choke points, Aviatrix says, but although this is effective, it also slows network traffic. Moreover, bad actors are increasingly aware of such methods.

Aviatrix reckons it can around those issues by embedding the same kind of security into the multicloud data plane.

“We’re committed to consistently introducing new ways of ensuring our customers can reduce business risk by layering in security at the network data layer without impacting business agility,” said Aviatrix Vice President of Product Marketing Bryan Ashley.

One customer is the car rental firm Avis Budget Group, Inc., which has adopted a multicloud computing infrastructure to enable the rapid delivery of new features and customer experiences.

“Aviatrix has been instrumental in day two operations within our multicloud environment by providing us with the right level of fidelity to quickly detect and isolate issues whenever they occur,” said Matthew Benner, global vice president of infrastructure and core services at Avis.

Aviatrix said ThreatIQ with ThreatGuard is available now from itself and authorized partners and public cloud marketplaces.
