CrowdStrike unveils new service integrations for Falcon unified security platform

By now, everyone knows that cybercrime is on the rise. Attacks are a “when, not if” proposition for companies, as misconfigurations in cloud architectures and employee lapses open gateways for sophisticated criminals to exploit.

“An adversary is able to enter a network and move laterally into that network within one hour and 32 minutes,” said Jessica Alexander (pictured), vice president of cloud product sales and alliances at CrowdStrike Holdings Inc.

This statistic comes from CrowdStrike’s Falcon OverWatch team, which monitors cloud systems and networks 24/7.

Alexander spoke with Lisa Martin, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during AWS re:Invent. They discussed how CrowdStrike’s fully integrated breach prevention platform protects cloud workloads across Amazon Web Services Inc. cloud and edge environments and ensures a secure cloud migration journey for AWS customers. A unified security platform no matter where the workload or employee reside

Falcon OverWatch is just one of the data sources CrowdStrike uses to monitor for threats. Others are incident response team feeds, intel operatives, and “millions of sensors in customer environments,” according to Alexander. These events are correlated in real time to create a threat graph in the cloud, which is powered by AWS.

“This gives us a very unique perspective into what’s happening in adversary activity out in the world,” said Alexander, noting that “adversaries are getting a lot faster and a lot more efficient.”

Having the ability to prevent attacks and ransomware before they happen is critical, as it takes away any advantage the cybercriminal has when they can enter and move laterally without being detected.

In October of this year, CrowdStrike deepened its relationship with AWS, adding several new features to its Falcon portfolio in response to the growing complexity and sophistication of cyberattacks.

Re:Invent brings the announcement of new service integrations with managed Kubernetes service Amazon EKS, on-premises IT-as-a-service platform AWS Outposts, and container log router AWS FireLens. These services will bring CrowdStrike’s “gold standard of breach protection” to AWS customers, by providing “consistent security and simplified operational management across AWS services as customers extend those from public cloud to the data center to the edge,” Alexander stated.
