App delivery platform Cameyo certified as Chrome Enterprise Recommended partner

Cameyo Inc., a virtual application delivery platform for remote work, today announced it was named a Chrome Enterprise Recommended partner to enable cloud-first Windows app distribution.

As more workforces become remote and hybrid many have come to rely on cloud-ready solutions such as Chrome OS. Operating systems such as Chrome OS, provide seamless access to remote workers with greatly increased security and reduced administration costs.

However, adopting Chrome OS across an enterprise also means giving up legacy Windows applications, which will not run on the platform. With so many organizations reliant on particular workflows and software, migrating to something like Chrome OS means being able to use old software on the new cloud platform.

By being certified as a Chrome Enterprise Recommended partner, Cameyo joins Citrix and VMware as the third virtualization solution globally to earn the distinction.

“Hybrid and remote work have highlighted the complexity of legacy desktop delivery and revealed the value of alternative device, application, data and security strategies,” said Mark Bowker, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. “Cameyo is helping businesses with Chrome OS remove roadblocks to accessing Windows apps and enabling enterprises with secure access to all the business-critical apps they need in a cloud desktop.”

Cameyo was purpose-built to secure digital workspaces as a cloud-native platform using a zero-trust security model. It also provides an easy-to-understand user interface that offers a cloud desktop where Windows applications and data can be accessed easily by users in order to stay productive. To do this, it can run the full desktop application directly from the browser, eliminating the need for apps to be installed locally.

Users do not need to learn or install anything and they can access any application from any device, including Chromebooks and devices running Chrome OS. That makes Cameyo ideal for companies looking to migrate their networks to the fully cloud-first managed operating system.

This announcement from Cameyo closely follows a recent launch of Chrome OS Flex, an enterprise-grade and cloud-first operating system built for businesses that can be installed on Macs and PCs. Using the OS, organizations can administer and power entire fleets of older machines and run them as if they were Chromebooks.

Combining the power and flexibility of Chrome OS Flex’s cloud-first security and capabilities across a network along with Cameyo’s solution would give organizations with aging computers the ability to migrate quickly and retain Windows apps.

“We were very excited about moving to Chromebooks and taking advantage of the security and ease of management that Chrome OS and Google Workspace are known for – but we also have Windows applications that we rely on to run our business,” said Adam Nerell, head of information technology for Klarahill, a family-run funeral home business in Sweden. “So, we could not make the move to Chromebooks without enabling access to those apps.”

With Cameyo’s solution enabling virtual delivery of Windows apps, Klarahill shifted to Chrome OS and saved the company money. Nerell said switching saved 15% in month-to-month costs over the previous remote desktop solution. And, without the need for Windows clients, the company also has fewer support issues, saving even more.
